Physical Apperance
Prosper Germain Avery (Julian McMahon) stands about 6'2" and weighs somewhere around 140 to 147 pounds. Prosper, as he is known to his friends and compatriots, has a muscular frame, broad in the shoulder, and tends to carry himself with a sense of both purpose and regality. He is handsome, with short dark hair, green eyes, a firm, strong facial build. He prefers to remain clean shaven, and his considerable pride in his appearance ensures that Avery keeps himself since 30ish (thank whomever for glamours and potions).

History
Prosper Germain Avery was born on May 24, 1957 to Durelle Maupré (Pureblood, French, Graduated Beauxbatons in 1954) and Julian Ambrose Avery (Pureblood English, Graduated Hogwarts in 1937). He was a healthy child, one of a set of twins, the other of which did not survive childbirth and was given the name Brogan Francis Avery before burial. Prosper grew quickly, and since his mother bore only one more child (a little girl who suffered a tragic 'fall' down the steps of the Avery Mansion [Marie Alette Avery]), he was highly doted upon by both parents.

Prosper's youth was filled with the sort of 'proper' education that all Aristocrats are given. He learned French and English from his mother, and was bilingual by the time he attended school. Durelle spent a great deal of time preparing her son to enter society, and hired many private tutors to give him a basic background in history, etiquette and even government. When Prosper arrived at Hogwarts in '68 he was a well-groomed pureblood prince indeed.

Prosper was in the same year as many aspiring Death Eaters, and became quite close to many of them during his stay at Hogwarts. Lucius Malfoy and Rodolphus Lestrange were amongst his original compatriots, but within the next few years he would grow close to such notable figures as Bellatrix and Narcissa Black, Severus Snape and Fenrir Greyback.

In most of his classes Avery preformed with more than passing competence. He received O's on his COMC, Charms and Potions exams, E's on his Defense Against the Dark Arts and Herbology Exams, and A's on the rest, including Transfiguration and Numerology. His relationship with most of his professors was positive, and indeed, he was a late member of the Slug Club. Minerva McGonagall, however, seemed to take a special dislike to Avery early on and he still desires a chance to 'get back at the old bag'.

Avery graduated in the 1975, and returned to his parent's estates before joining the Death Eaters and taking the Mark. He spent most of his time in service in the dual role of Informant and Inquisitor.

When the Dark Lord fell however, Avery's famous silver tongue saved him from being imprisoned. He would, in the span of time between The Dark Lord's fall and return, use his old connections to gain the trust of many wizards and witches in the Ministry of Magic, including many of the Unmentionables.

But while his minor skill at Occulmens paired with his apparent standing in the wizarding community kept him out of Azkaban, it did not save him from the Dark Lord's wrath; for upon his return Lord Voldemort crucioed Avery for begging forgiveness (he is somewhat of a coward). With renewed faith (and fear) in his Lord's service Avery accepted his punishment and rejoined the Death Eaters. He was punished once more for relaying false information from one of his many sources to Voldermort, but survived to do battle at the Department of Mysteries, where he was captured by Dumbledore while fighting the Order. He now waits in Azkaban for his eventual release.

Personality
"Ever heard the phrase "snake-tongued?" It must have been invented to describe a Slytherin Gemini. (This doesn't refer to the Parsletongue gift, either, although the few Slytherin wizards who exhibited it have had a disproportionate number of Geminis in their midst.) Slytherin Geminis have the dubious gift of being able to lay the blarney on thick, and be believed. This is due to both their imaginative mental agility and to their skill with words. Of course, not all Slytherin Geminis are liars - but it is probably advisable to get all sides of the story if you hear interesting gossip from one of these wizards. Slytherins born under the sign of Gemini are also naturally skilled at any magical work which involves sleight of hand or incantations. They are less determined and aggressive than the average Slytherin, though, save perhaps in a field that involves debate. You will find far more of them chatting in the common room or looking up arcane lore in the library than on the Quidditch field or in a dueling match, with the exception of Quidditch Seekers: the sharp eyesight and quick reflexes associated with Gemini are good traits for a Seeker to have."

Avery is well groomed, suave and sophisticated in the same way Vlad the Impaler was. He speaks in what is usually a contained, cultured tone, and knows all the fine rules of etiquette. He is not really sadistic, nor anything of that sort. He doesn't enjoy giving pain. He merely enjoys doing his job and doing it well whenever possible. He will spend hours of painful study to figure out the best and most efficient way of torturing an answer out of an enemy, and is known in Death Eater circles for holding long, one-sided conversations with his 'clients' (as he refers to them) as he tortures them along the edge of death and madness. He should not be seen as someone who enjoys talking about a deed more than performing it though. He merely likes to know what he's doing is the most direct, efficient, and comfortable way of doing things. Avery may not be loyal in the strictest sense of the word, but he is devout to his ideals, and as long as he is both afraid and in awe of Voldemort he will serve him to the best of his abilities. He is an excellent duelist, but is better behind the lines, performing services in the areas he's best at: Information, torture and subversion.
